More recently it has been developed an electrochlorination system named EcoFonp , based on the principle of sea water electrolysis: part of the salt in the sea water is converted into sodium hypochlorite to act as a disinfectant to the organic material in the sea water suctioned by the on board pumps.
Even if the treatment method is chemical by means of an active substance (Chlorine), the system is eco-friendly, thanks to the completely reversible reaction that leads to the chlorine formation. Once discharged overboard the reaction goes back and sodium hypochlorite comes back to salt and water, leaving no trace in the environment of the hypochlorite. EcoFonp is simple, flexible and suitable for any application to solve fouling growth in several environmental conditions and even in geographic areas where fouling can be really aggressive.
